RSA Group, a UK based commercial insurer, has appointed Martin Scicluna as its new chairman, effective from 01 January 2013.
Scicluna, who holds considerable financial services experience, will succeed RSA’s out going chairman, John Napier, who steps down on 31 December 2012, following ten years of service.
Commenting on the appointment, RSA senior independent director Edward Lea said Martin’s considerable knowledge and financial services sector understanding together with his board experience will serve as real assets to the Group.
”Martin will bring a fresh approach that will support our aims to deliver an excellent service to our customers and value for our shareholders,” Lea added.
Prior to joining RSA, Scicluna served as chairman of Great Portland Estates, chairman of the Audit committee and as non-executive director of Lloyds Banking Group.
Scicluna also served as chairman for Deloitte from 1995 to 2007 during his 30 year career at the company.
