Prudential Financial names new life insurance SVP

Prudential Financial has revealed that Joan Cleveland has been named senior vice president of new business development in the company's Individual Life Insurance business.

Cleveland is responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities for Individual Life Insurance, as well as exploring other product and service expansion opportunities. She will report to Mark Hug, chief marketing officer of Individual Life Insurance.

Cleveland has significant previous experience in sales and marketing in the life insurance industry. In her previous position, she served as senior vice president of national sales for the protection division of Genworth Financial in Lynchburg, where she was responsible for delivering $600 million of first year premium and deposits through independent distribution.

Other past positions include managing director of marketing for Van Eck Global in New York; vice president of Hemisphere Sales and vice president of M Financial Sales for Security Life of Denver; and executive vice president of JJ Schumacher Associates in Los Angeles.

We’re happy to welcome Joan to this important role. I’m confident in her ability to build relationships with prospective distribution partners and address their business needs with Prudential Financial’s products and services, said Hug.
