New India Assurance, a government of India enterprise, has rolled out its latest health insurance offering specially designed for families with girl children.
Dubbed as New India Asha Kiran, the new health insurance floater policy offers 50% discount for the girl child, as reported by PTI.
In case of accident to parents, the sum insured will be placed as fixed deposit in the name of the girl, according to the insurance company.
New India Assurance chairman and managing director G Srinivasan was quoted by the publication as saying, "We have launched this product, specially designed for families with only girl children, on the occasion of International Women’s Day."
"This product is reasonably priced as discounts are offered for insuring girl children," Srinivasan told the news agency.
"We hope this product receives sound response from consumers," he added.
"Though we don’t have any concrete estimate of how many families are there with only girl children, we think around 20-30 per cent families may come under this segment."
The company, which is planning to introduce its recent piloted product for domestic workers for retail customers, said that it will also launch an array of new insurance products.
