Friends Life, a part of Friends Provident Holdings (UK), has appointed John Van Der Wielen as managing director international, succeeding Rocco Sepe, effective immediately.
In his new role, Wielen will have responsibility for all of the group’s international businesses, which include Friends Provident International (FPI), fpb AG – FPI’s German distribution partner, Lombard, and AmLife in Malaysia.
Wielen will report directly to CEO, Andy Briggs and will become a member of the group executive committee.
Paul Tunnicliffe, managing director Friends Provident International, David Steinegger, CEO of Lombard and Stefan Giesecke, CEO of fpb AG will report to Wielen.
Based in Australia, he comes to Friends Life from ANZ Banking Corporation where he was managing director of wealth.
With 20 years of international experience in the financial services industry covering life and pensions, general insurance, wealth management and banking, in particular as CEO of HBOS Financial Services.
Friends Provident International, which develops competitive savings, investment and pensions products for a broad and diverse range of markets including Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Germany.
