CIS blunder leaves motorists uncovered – report

The insurance arm of the Co-operative movement CIS has admitted to experiencing a

<p>According to This is Money quoting the BBC as its source, the CIS made the administrative foul-up when it send out letters to around 2,000 policy holders telling them that their car insurance would be automatically renewed. However, the company then failed to take payment for the accounts and so renewals did not go through.<br /><br />Apparently CIS is now writing to the affected customers to inform them of the problem and the need for them to get in contact with the insurer to rectify the issue.<br /><br />According to This is Money, CIS has also helpfully pointed out to the customers in question that, because of its mistake, they are now breaking the law. However, the insurer said it would pay out on claims during the transition period as if the customers were properly insured.</p>
