HBOS Group company Banco Halifax Hispania has announced that it can now offer its Spanish mortgages to potential Irish buyers through the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) broker network. In addition to the mortgage service, Banco Halifax Hispania is offering current accounts, savings and insurance services to Irish consumers looking to live temporarily or permanently in Spain.
A key benefit of this alliance to Irish consumers and brokers is the convenience of arranging mortgages from a Spanish bank that specifically targets English speaking customers. The bank has also compiled a list of qualified solicitors and surveyors, with local knowledge and experience in acting for Irish customers, in the popular resorts of Costa Del Sol, Costa Blanca, Mallorca, Cataluna and Costa Calida regions.
Once the brokers from the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) network have completed the paperwork, the applications will be forwarded to Madrid where the contract will be approved and written.
This venture will enable our brokers to serve the growing Irish expatriate market looking to buy a second home in Spain, said Bernard Kingston, head of homeloans at Bank of Scotland (Ireland). With a clear understanding of the Spanish market, Banco Halifax are able to provide products that match the needs of Irish people buying property in Spain. It is estimated that over 50,000 Irish people have bought Spanish homes over the past 10 years.
