According to local press reports, Axa has launched a member referral program in the United Arab Emirates to help promote its motor insurance offerings.
The referral program is said to be unique in the United Arab Emirates region, as no other insurance products are currently offered via such a scheme. Under the program, any existing members who make a referral before December 14, 2006 will receive a free gift, as will new members who take out a motor insurance policy following referral.
The company no doubt hopes that the scheme will build upon the successes of similar programs previously launched in France and Spain.
Over in the UK, meanwhile, Axa recently announced that it plans to keep the Axa and Winterthur businesses separate following its acquisition of the pensions and life insurance firm from Credit Suisse.
Axa said that it intends to run the two businesses in parallel, with each maintaining its own separate brand as well as product development, marketing, distribution and customer service functions. The company believes that this structure would be beneficial as it would allow Winterthur to continue specializing in its commission-free transparent products, and permit Axa to continue developing its wealth management business.
