This selection of expectation vs reality nightmares and packaging fails are sure to give you a few laughs.

Expectation vs Reality, a phrase that we hear more frequently now as people buy things online without physically seeing them. Or, that packaging designers put a lot of effort into making the box look perfect, regardless of the product inside.

Packaging, to some is just the necessary, but irrelevant outer shell of the real item you’re interested in. For others, packaging is an evil torturer who uses schemes to trick you into buying a product. Both are true.

When buying any product, you have a certain idea of what it is you’ve spent your hard earned cash on.

However, packaging designers and the greedy companies that use them, have been using some foul play to hoodwink you into thinking their products are the bee’s knees.

Have you ever opened a box to find it containing 50% air? Or, the picture on the front looks the best thing since sliced bread, only to realise it’s nothing like advertised?

The following selection of packaging misadventures or masterminds will leave you shaking your head.
