COSWEET™: Deep COS Removal From Natural Gas

Process Principle
•COS destruction by catalytic hydrolysis at moderate temperature in gas phase
•Hydrolysis reactor integrated with the amine absorber
•Partially sweetened gas is sent to hydrolysis reactor
•Almost complete COS destruction on proprietary catalyst
•After COS destruction, gas is sent back to amine absorber for H2S (and CO2 if needed) polishing

Process Scheme

COSWEET™ Process Scheme

A Robust Process Design

  • Supported by extensive know-how on amine plant desulphurization (AdvAmine™ processes)
  • Hydrolysis reactor operating conditions as close as possible to absorber conditions
  • Proprietary catalyst specifically developed for COSWEET™ operating conditions

Key Benefits

  • COS destruction integrated with amine sweetening
  • Very active catalyst destroys COS down to the ppm level at moderate temperature
  • Low pressure drop and moderate energy consumption
  • Used with any amine solution
o With MDEAmax: complete COS removal
    No impact on H2S / CO2 selectivity
No impact on Sulphur Recovery Units
o With HiLoadDEA / energizedMDEA: COS destruction boosted at reduced cost
  • Economics:
    o CAPEX: -15%
    o OPEX: -20%
