Unexpected release of water damages farms

According to Cambodian officials, hundreds of farms in northeastern Cambodia were damaged when water was unexpectedly released from a hydro power dam in neighbouring Vietnam. The water was released from a dam on the Se San river which flows into Cambodia’s Rattanakiri province from Vietnam, and resulted in the loss of livestock and damage to homes and fields. It is not clear why the water was released, and officials have declined to estimate the cost of the damage.
