Kadra and Kodasalli hydro plants inaugurated in India

The chief minister of the state of Karnataka in India has inaugurated the 150MW Kadra and 120MW Kodasalli hydro power stations. The two plants, which form the second stage of the Kalinadi hydroelectric project, are expected to generate 1082M kWh of power each year.

The Kadra dam, with three units of 50MW capacity, also provides cooling water to the Kaiga atomic plant. The dam was built at a cost of Rs3.43B (US$0.07B) with World Bank assistance. The Kodasalli power house is situated 30km away from the Kadra dam and is equipped with 3x40MW turbines. The Kodasalli power project was also constructed with World Bank assistance and cost Rs2.3B (US$0.05B).
