Independent cost-benefit analysis for renewables

UK-based AEA Technology (AEAT) is rolling out a service that provides independent technical advice to guide investors and financiers through the complicated business of developing renewable energy projects.

The company says it has identified a need for this type of service because the growth of renewable energy is a whole new ballgame to financial experts concerned with weighing up the costs and benefits of projects. The package will basically provide a handholding and interpretation service for the banks, so that the banks can be sure that developers know what they are doing.

On whether or not the service would be applicable to hydro investors, Tony Duffin at AEAT said that it was more likely to appeal to those backing a portfolio of schemes rather than individual projects.

AEAT will be presenting the service at a series of breakfast meetings in London throughout the year. Contact Tony Duffin + 44 870 889 0512, email tony.duffin@aeat.co.uk for details.
