China Petroleum Engineering & Construction (CPECC) has secured a contract for the Amur gas processing plant (GPP) in Amur region, Russia.
Amur GPP is being developed with an investment of around $12.7bn.
Under the deal, CPECC will construct, manufacture and supply equipment for the gas processing plant in the Svobodnensky District.
CPECC will soon sign an agreement with NIPIGAZ which is the general contractor, which will manage the construction of the Amur GPP.
As per the deal, the Russian compressor equipment producers will be involved for the project while a Russian specialized firm will supply all the units with automation systems.
With a design capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas per annum, the Amur project is claimed to be the Russia’s largest gas processing plant.
The project will also feature the world's largest helium production facility, which will have capacity to produce up to 60 million cubic meters per annum.
For Amur GPP, Linde will deliver the core process equipment to recover cryogenic helium and beneficial petrochemical substances from gas.
The facility, which was designed to extract important components from natural gas, will supply natural gas to China through the eastern route.
In October 2015, the construction on the project commenced, which will extract ethane, propane, butane, pentane-hexane fraction and helium from natural gas and process it for shipment to China.
The facility will produce 49bcm of processed gas, 3.4 million tonne (mt) of ethane, 2mt of liquefied petroleum gas and 60mcm of helium.
Ethane produced at the plant will be delivered to SIBUR gas chemical facility to be used for producing polyethene.
