China and US join in IPP

A Chinese company from southwest China’s Guizhou province and Minnesota, US-based SB will jointly spend US$60M to build a hydro power station in Guizhou, China, according to Xinhua.

The proposed new Huanghuazhang station will be sited on the Getu river inside Changsgun County and when completed it will be the third tiered hydro power station on the main stream of Getu river. The new plant will have a generating capacity of 45MW. SB will bear 70% of the entire financing with its Chinese partner, Zhongteng Industrial Company, covering the remaining amount. The investors have agreed to set up a joint company which will be held responsible for construction and operation of the projected hydro power station.

It is estimated that the new hydro power plant will be able to generate 200M kWh of electricity annually.
