Birka Energi sells hydroelectric units

Birka Energi of Sweden is selling its minority holdings in Korsselbranna, Dabbsjo, Bergvattnet, Betsele, Hallforsen, Storfinnsforsen and Olden hydro-electric power plants to majority shareholder Sydkraft. The plants generate 365GWh of electricity annually and are valued at SEK 867M (US$84M). This disposal reduces Birka Energi’s normal annual capacity by approximately 3%. Birka’s 200 hydroelectric power plants generated over 12.4TWh during 2000.
