The Stable Salt Reactor: Transforming the promise of the molten salt fuel concept into a viable technology

The modules include pumps, heat exchangers, instrumentation, ducting and support structures and are factory produced. Up to eight modules can be placed in a single reactor tank forming a rectangular reactor core. A cross section of the core is shown with the equipment to move fuel assemblies and larger components. This also shows the inert gas containment above the reactor and the natural convection air ducts that passively remove decay heat from the reactor when it is shut down
