When continuous plastic foil produced on a blow moulding installation is to be processed, it has to be cut using an industrial cutting device. This process is conducted while the plastic runs through the blow moulding installation after the two squeezing and drawing rollers. The blow moulding sheets are either cut into two lanes or just one. The second case applies when the sheeting has to be rolled into a wide flat film. After several years of testing, one manufacturer of cutting systems developed a novel and optimum plastic sheeting cutter.

For the base body of the device, wear is a serious problem. This wear is caused by the foil that streams by at a speed of 150 m per minute. Several combinations of base materials and surfaces were tried until a breakthrough was found involving a coating for the base aluminium material from in the KEPLA-COAT® process. This process reduced the wear to a minimum and doubled the service life of the entire device.
