London-based high street lender Metro Bank is set to create more than 500 new jobs in 2014, as part of its growth strategy in the country.
Metro Bank chief executive Craig Donaldson commented: "It’s extremely exciting for us to kick off 2014 with such a great announcement.
"Since we launched in 2010 we’ve grown at a tremendous rate; thousands of customers are joining the banking revolution every month and to support this we’re creating hundreds of new career opportunities for people across London and the South East."
Metro Bank expects that the new roles will support its expanding store network, business banking services, contact centre, switching service and central teams.
"Importantly, these aren’t just jobs, they’re long term careers with real progression opportunities for people as we grow," Donaldson said.
Around 12 new stores will be opened by the London-based bank in 2015 at location including Milton Keynes, Epsom and Brighton.
Meanwhile, the bank will expand its commercial banking team in order to continue to support the growing demands of small businesses.
In 2013, the lender saw a substantial growth with its store footprint increased by 60% to 24 stores. More than 1000 jobs have been created to date by Metro Bank since its launch in July 2010.
