Swedbank restructures Swedish operations to focus on digital banking services

Swedbank is planning to revamp its Swedish operations, with an aim to provide better customer experience, focus on developing digital banking services, and clarify branch offices´ role and responsibilities.

As per the restructuring plan, which will be implemented from January 2013, Swedbank’s digital banking services will become a separate business unit.

Following reshuffle of the aforesaid business unit, the bank’s branch offices will be in a position to concentrate more on customer services with greater advisory needs.

After the completion of restructuring, the six regional heads and the group CIO will become members of group executive committee from 1 January 2013, the lender said.

As a financial service provider in the home markets of Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the lender delivers various banking services and products.

The bank serves 7.8 million retail customers and about 600,000 corporate customers and organizations with the help of 311 branches in Sweden and nearly 200 branches in the Baltic countries.
