Gender Pay Gap Closing?

According to one new report the gender pay gap continued to show a reduction in 2021; women are now paid $0.85 for every $1 made by a man. While this is a significant improvement, especially with reports suggesting that the pandemic would set gender pay issues back, some say it is a sign that the gender pay gap could be closed by 2030.

Women In Leadership Have The Most Equity

The gender pay gap has closed even more quickly for certain women, specifically those in positions of leadership. According to Visier’s new report the pay gap between female and male managers has reduced at twice the rate of the gap between non-managerial roles.

To put that in perspective, though, women outside of leadership roles make about $0.15 less than their male counterparts while women in leader ship roles make about $0.10 less than their male counterparts.

Pandemic Pushing Businesses To Expand

In other workplace news, Visier’s data indicates that there is a new normal for businesses in this near-post-pandemic age, and many of the changes are set up to help employees achieve a better balance within their lives. Visier’s researchers have identified ten trends that they say will change the workplace for 2022 and beyond.

First, a new “social contract” between employees and employers that prioritizes the mental health of workers. Second, a more flexible workplace with more employees given the ability to work remotely or create an in-person schedule that balances more with their personal lives.
