Maybank has reported a four-fold increase in debit card payments at Mydin outlets during its recent three-month Senang Menang campaign.
Payments via Maybankard Debit Card totaled RM5.7 million for the period December 1, 2007 to February 29, 2008 compared to RMB1.2 million in the previous corresponding period of December 1, 2006 to February 28, 2007.
According to Ashraf Kadir, Maybank executive vice president and head of cards and payments at Maybank, the success of the three-month campaign was also reinforced by the 75% growth in transaction value when compared to the preceding three months of September – November 2007.
Mr Ashraf added: The significant increase in transaction volume and value during the three-month campaign compared to last year is most encouraging as it indicates growing acceptance of debit card use by customers for their retail purchases.
We believe that moving forward, this payment convenience will continue to grow as even more customers and merchants become aware of the benefits it offers.
