HSBC has announced that it is planning to launch its new green credit card in early April 2008 in the Hong Kong market.
HSBC’s green credit card will enable customers to contribute to environmental protection as they spend.
In addition, cardholders will be contributing to the setting up of green roofs at a number of schools in Hong Kong, as HSBC will donate an equivalent sum of 0.1% of cardholder spending to the HSBC Green Roof for Schools program.
Louisa Cheang, head of personal financial services at HSBC for Hong Kong, said: The green credit card is testament to HSBC’s commitment to tackling environmental problems and climate change. We are encouraging the people of Hong Kong to make their ‘green’ mark, by doing things that help the environment in a simple and practical way.
