Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange names MD for Europe

The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (HKMEx) has named Jonathan Cowan as managing director for Europe.

Cowan will be responsible for the Exchange’s marketing strategy and operations in Europe, including membership recruitment and management.

Cowan was previously senior vice president and global head of electronic futures and options at Cantor Fitzgerald’s former eSpeed/BGC division.

He was also co-founder at trading systems provider EccoWares, and managing director at London-based Westminster Clearing.

In addition HKMEx has appointed Stephane Lannoy as executive director of operations & technology.

Lannoy will focus on the day-to-day management of HKMEx’s operations and technology teams, and act as liaison to various industry groups. He will report to Lieven Van den Brande, COO for operations & technology.

Lannoy was most recently executive director and coowner of AsiaEx Consulting Services. Prior to that, he was Asia Pacific managing director for RTS Realtime Systems, and chief information officer at Fimat first for the Amercias and then Asia.
