Giraffe Money offers new three-year carbon offset mortgage

Giraffe Money, a part of Bank of Ireland UK Financial Services, is offering a new three-year carbon mortgage, which offsets the average home's carbon dioxide emissions for the three year fixed period.

Giraffe’s new mortgage is 5.58% three year fixed until October 31, 2010. The mortgage provides a minimum loan of GBP15001 for purchases and GBP25001 for remortgage, while the maximum limit is GBP1 million. The early repayment charge is 3% until October 31, 2010.

Alison Pallett, managing director of consumer lending, Bank of Ireland personal lending UK, said: At Giraffe, we pride ourselves on offering a great deal for our customers. For a limited period our customers can not only get the best rate in the market, but also help the environment too. With a deal this good on offer, it would be difficult to justify not taking out our new Giraffe mortgage.

Julia Harris, mortgage expert at, said: It’s unusual to see a market leading product combined with the extra incentive of carbon offsetting. This deal saves both the consumer money, as well as allowing them to help do their bit to save our environment. Giving them the best of both worlds.
