Citi names new CEO for China

Citibank China has appointed Andrew Au as its new chairman and CEO. He will report to Robert Morse, CEO of institutional clients group in Asia-Pacific, and Stephen Bird, Asia-Pacific CEO for the consumer group.

In this new position, Mr Au will have direct responsibility for the management of Citi’s businesses and infrastructure in China. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Au held the position of regional head of Citi’s global commercial bank, based in Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Ajay Banga, CEO of Citi Asia-Pacific, said: Citi is fully committed to continue to grow in China over time and I believe that under Andrew’s leadership, our strong team in China will continue to meet the evolving needs to our customers while actively contributing to China’s ongoing success.
