Barclaycard To Outsource Teesside Call Center Operation To Firstsource

Barclaycard, part of Barclays global and retail banking division, is holding negotiations with Indian BPO services provider Firstsource Solutions to sell its call center operation at Teesside, which employs 700 staff.

Barclaycard intends to outsource the majority of the services currently provided by the Teesside center – and a related payment servicing team located in Wavertree, Merseyside to Firstsource.

Plans for the existing Teesside employees and building will form part of the discussions and Firstsource is said to have given a commitment to establish a long term presence in Teesside.

Derek Allgood, global sales and service director at Barclaycard, said: “We’ll be spending the next few months talking to Firstsource to see if we can form a partnership which will be right for our colleagues, right for our customers and right for Barclaycard. We’ve chosen Firstsource as potential partners because they are specialists at running customer service centers which care about both the people who work for them and about delivering an excellent customer experience.”
