Apple Pay coming to Santander customers in UK

Santander UK will offer its customers access to Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way, for our customers as the service launches in the UK.

Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.

Nathan Bostock, CEO at Santander UK said: "Digital technology is rapidly changing how customers bank and pay on the move, and we are working to be at the forefront of that change. Apple Pay is set to change the way we pay for products and services in the UK, so it was the obvious choice to offer our customers, especially as we see a significant overlap between UK consumers with iPhones and Santander 1|2|3 World customers.

"We want to offer our customers more choice and control in managing their money anytime, anywhere. Our innovative 1|2|3 products already offer customers great value, with Apple Pay they will have convenience, and added safety and privacy too."

Apple Pay is easy to set up and our customers will continue to receive all of the rewards and bene?ts already offered by our credit and debit cards, such as cashback on their 1|2|3 Credit Card when using Apple Pay. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. When paying for goods and services within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
