ABN Amro starts share buyback

In line with the July 31, 2006, announcement to reduce its excess capital by buying back its own shares, ABN Amro is to begin buying back E750 million of its own stock.

Shares are to be bought back by December 31, 2006. The total amount of shares to be repurchased in 2006 buyback programs will not exceed 10% of ABN Amro’s issued capital, the Dutch finance house said in a statement.
