FIS Payment Engine Handles Double Digit Transaction Growth for Bankalararasi Kart Merkezi in Turkey

Turkey is one of the fastest growing consumer finance markets in the world and BKM is the country’s only switch company. IST/Switch will enable BKM to handle the company’s rapid growth in transaction volume, already in excess of five million per day and showing a steady double-digit growth rate.

Headquartered in Istanbul, the BKM network serves 27 member banks and has a monthly Transaction Processing System (TPS) rate of 115 million.

The IST/Switch solution provides switching, routing and authorisation for issuing, acquiring and network participants for ATM/POS, debit, credit and Web transactions. The industry leader in processing availability, IST/Switch can process credit/debit transactions through all the major card associations and networks, including Visa, MasterCard, Interac, American Express, Diners Club, JCB, STAR and NYCE.

Yurda Leylak, application development manager at BKM, commented, “IST/Switch provides greater scale, greater availability and significantly streamlined IT operations – crucial to BKM’s goal of delivering great customer service while meeting the demands of our rapidly expanding business operations, new technologies and security standards.”

Mark Davey, executive vice president, FIS international business, added, “BKM has been a valued client of FIS since 1998 and the deployment of IST/Switch is another example of our long-term commitment to their success. With availability beyond the 99.99% level, IST/Switch is the perfect solution to handle BKM’s transaction volume and expected growth rates. We remain focused on providing BKM with the best possible strategic advantages, on-site implementation skills and continued expert guidance.”
